leadership

The upcoming school year brings leadership changes at three of our buildings, welcoming familiar faces into new roles, along with a new name to the district. We are excited to introduce the four individuals who will begin 2025-2026 as Principals, Associate Principals, and Director of Instructional Programs.

A staple throughout the Maine-Endwell community and beyond – Maine Memorial Principal Bill Dundon has officially retired, following a three-decade career as a coach, physical education teacher, Associate Principal, and Principal of Homer Brink and Maine Memorial.

Stepping into the role of Principal will be Dana Calandra, formerly the Coordinator of Student Programs. Mrs. Calandra is a familiar face for Maine Memorial and UPK families, working within the building and throughout the district.

“Stepping into the role of principal at Maine Memorial is truly an honor, and I feel both excited and humbled by the opportunity. Maine Memorial holds a special place in my heart, and being able to lead a building filled with such dedicated, compassionate, and talented educators is incredibly inspiring. I'm eager to continue the strong work already in motion while also collaborating with staff, students, and families to grow together in new ways. It’s a big responsibility, but one I welcome with enthusiasm and a deep commitment to creating the best possible environment for learning and growth,” said Dana Calandra, Incoming Maine Memorial Principal.

Along with Mrs. Calandra, Maine Memorial will be welcoming its first Associate Principal – Oliver Kammerman. Mr. Kammerman was previously an ELA teacher with the Chenango Valley Central School District. As our population at Maine Memorial grows, Mr. Kammerman will fill an important role in serving students and their families.

“I’m excited to be joining the M-E community. All the faculty I have met have not only been kind and welcoming, but seem so passionate about their work. I’m honored to be joining such an awesome district and to support the great work that is already going on here,” said Oliver Kammerman, Incoming Maine Memorial Associate Principal.

Filling the role of Coordinator of Student Programs, now titled Director of Instructional Programs will be current Middle School Principal Michele Osterhout. Mrs. Osterhout served more than 15 years as Associate Principal at the Middle School and taught for nine years within the district.

“I am honored and excited to continue serving the students, families, and community of the Maine-Endwell Central School District in a new capacity. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to grow professionally while remaining part of a team that is deeply committed to student success. I look forward to the work ahead and to building strong partnerships with families as we support every student’s journey,” said Michele Osterhout, Incoming Director of Instructional Programs.

Taking over as Middle School Principal will be yet another familiar face to the district – Tony Ballard. Mr. Ballard was previously an Associate Principal at the High School, but he’s no stranger to middle school education. He was formerly a Middle School Principal in Virginia before moving to the district.

“I am excited to be stepping into the role as principal at Maine-Endwell Middle School next year. Middle school students are energetic, curious, and in a pivotal stage of personal and academic growth. Middle school teachers & staff are incredibly dedicated and adaptable, often serving as both educators and mentors who guide students through these transformative years. My time as the Associate Principal at the Maine-Endwell High School proved to be extremely rewarding, and my goal is to use the recent experience to help prepare middle school students for high school,” said Tony Ballard, Middle School Principal.

Entering the role of Associate Principal of the High School will be high school math teacher Ben Amorese. Mr. Amorese has spent years working with students in an instructional role and will now serve them in a leadership capacity. As a 2004 Spartan alum, and former star on the gridiron, he’s excited to work with students in a new way.

“It is both a privilege and an honor to be a part of the Maine-Endwell Central School District. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to step into a new role and look forward to giving back to the community that has given me so much,” said Ben Amorese, Incoming Associate Principal, High School.

We are excited to welcome our new leadership into the 2025-2026 school year. Their commitment to education and combined academic experience will be a tremendous asset to both students and families.
