Congratulations to April's Teacher of the Month, Jennifer Lis! She was nominated by Michele Knaul. This is what Michele wrote:
"Jen Lis - great mentor and is always willing to help out a colleague with ideas, materials and her expertise on how to reach those children that need reading support. Faculty (both new and veteran) come to her often asking for her advice or her perspective on child or strategy.
She was instrumental in coming up with a new and more effective way to benchmark and assess the younger students at the beginning of the year - she put all the materials together, made a schedule and recruited faculty to help and benchmarking was completed in half of the time it normally takes.
As a colleague that shares a room with her, I get to hear and see how much she cares about the students she is working with and the amazing teaching strategies and materials she uses to make reading fun. It has been my great pleasure being able to work with her and to share kids, ideas, strategies, materials and a classroom".
