When you identify your skills and select causes that are important to you, it helps Involve M-E match you with volunteer opportunities that are happening around the district.
Reviewing the volunteer handbook
· Maine Endwell Central School District holds it's students, parents, teachers and staff to a high standard. Reviewing the volunteer handbook allows you to understand the standard to which the volunteers will be held as well.

· We ask that our volunteers sign the confidentiality agreement to protect the privacy of our students and school community.

Initiating the background check
· Because not every opportunity requires a background check, the background check is initiated by responding to an opportunity where one is required.
How to know which opportunities require a background check
· Opportunities that require a background check are identified by a "ST" symbol next to the opportunity. The "ST" represents Sterling Volunteers; our background check provider.
· Background checks are required when an opportunity involves direct contact with students during school hours.
· The cost of the background check is covered by MECSD.
The difference between a private opportunity and a public opportunity
A public opportunity is viewable by all users on Involve M-E. Any user that has met any/all requirements may sign up to volunteer.
A private opportunity is only viewable by users with access to the opportunity link. Private opportunities may be used for things like class parties, field trips and situations that require a specific volunteer skillset.
Do the requirements have to be renewed?
Once completed; your review of the volunteer handbook, signing of the confidentiality agreement, & completion of your background check, will carry through your volunteer career in MECSD.
