Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) & Bullying Reporting

DASA

The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), also known as The Dignity Act, was established to provide all students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus, or at a school function. The act was signed into law in September 2010 and took effect on July 1, 2012.

The district Board of Education and administration have developed new procedures and policies to address the requirements of the law. This includes amending the district’s Code of Conduct to include specific language regarding bullying. The district was proactive in going one step further and creating a specific board of education policy regarding bullying. A link to The Code of Conduct can be found in the menu to the right. A link to the board of education policy is provided below.

The new law also requires that all employees be trained to identify, address and report acts of bullying toward students. New reporting forms also allow parents or students to anonymously report an incident of bullying. The bullying and harassment reporting form is available in the Contact Us menu on the right.
