NEW YORK STATE HAS ADOPTED THE NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR EDUCATION CALLED THE "CORE CURRICULUM" FOR GRADES K THROUGH 12. THESE NEW STANDARDS BRING CHANGE TO THE STATE ASSESSMENTS AND HAVE PROMPTED A SHIFT IN THE WAY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS PREPARE FOR THE TESTS.
