Maine-Endwell Senior High School has been honored with a tremendous achievement in the world of academic excellence. For the 2024-2025 academic year, MEHS has earned a place on the College Board's AP School Honor Roll, an award recognizing schools that have made outstanding efforts to expand access to Advanced Placement (AP) coursework while supporting students on their path to college success. The designation reflects a schoolwide commitment to welcoming more students into AP classes - providing additional opportunities to pursue their academic goals.
Last year, more than 100 students took part in AP testing. Over the course of two weeks in May, high schoolers sat for 11 different AP exam offerings, including European History, Biology, Government and Politics, English Literature, U.S. History, Macroeconomics, Calculus, Physics 1 and 2, Psychology, and new this year - Music Theory. In total, students took part in 135 AP exams last year.
The AP School Honor Roll recognition underscores our efforts of providing high schoolers with a jumpstart into higher education, supporting students academically, and fostering a strong overall academic culture. It remains our goal that when a student graduates from Maine-Endwell, they will have been challenge to reach their fullest potential, while being provided with more opportunities than they could ever ask for.
"Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success," said Trevor Packer, Senior Vice President, AP and Instruction College Board.
We are excited to expand our AP offerings even further this year, with AP U.S. History, AP Drawing and AP 3D Design.
