As we begin the 2025-2026 school year, we’re excited to introduce our students to a brand-new service meant to assist in all their technology needs. Starting in September, we’re launching a first-of-its-kind ‘Student IT Help Desk,’ run by students, for students. Located on the ground floor of the high school, near the language classrooms, it’ll provide students with answers and solutions to any software and hardware issues on district-issued devices. M-E senior Anthony Boyce joins junior Ethan Guerin as our Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) interns.

These students will respond to all “tickets” for repair, from diagnosing the problem, to repairing the device, and later messaging the student to pick it up. Loaner Chromebooks will be issued from the Student IT Help Desk while the repairs take place. For all non-repair needs, the high school main office will remain the "default" spot for signing out loaners. (If a student forgets their Chromebook, the battery is dead, etc.) We're hoping that the Student IT Help Desk will be a way to provide in-person technical support while also relieving some of the burden on our main office when it comes to entering broken device tickets.

Thanks to interns Anthony and Ethan, (who have been working and training throughout the summer) our office will be staffed every day except for day four, with some exceptions. We’re excited to provide these students with the chance to work in a real-world IT environment, continuing our mission to build upon our work-based learning opportunities. Director of Technology, and fellow M-E grad Ben Taylor will oversee the help desk.

“We're thrilled to launch our Student IT Help Desk this fall—it’s all about giving students real, hands-on experience before they even graduate. Our interns will sharpen their tech and customer service skills, be a friendly first stop for troubleshooting, and make our IT team even stronger. The best part for me is working right alongside them and watching their confidence grow. Many go straight into IT careers after high school or during college, and we get to help them take those first steps,” said Taylor.

It is important to note that while our Student IT Help Desk will be a main point of contact for students, it also remains available for staff members in need of tech repair. Hours will be posted on the Technology page of our website. Our team has also placed a sign on the IT Office door indicating "Open Times" which will direct students to either go to the Main Office, or come back in one of the periods where the Help Desk will be staffed.
