STEM PATHWAYS EVENT: It's National Engineers Week, and SUNY Broome is marking the occasion by hosting a STEM Pathways Career Exploration Night! Middle school students, along with their parents and teachers, are invited to campus from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. The event will take place in the Applied Technologies Building on the SUNY Broome Community College campus!

100 DROPS OF WATER: Students in Mrs. Kuzel's 1st Grade HB Class worked on an activity today involving 100 Drops of Water! Each table was given an empty cup and another equal in size but filled with water. Students were instructed to take turns with their partners, squeezing out 5 drops of water using the eye dropper. They were to continue doing this until they had 20 groups of 5 tallies, adding up to 100 drops of water. (Currently they are working on a measurement unit making tally's, bar graphs, and pictographs). Then they drew the actual amount of water in the other cup on their paper so they could compare the amounts. Finally, they answered the question below on their paper as to if their prediction was more, less, or equal to the actual amount they squeezed out.

YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP: High school YAP student, Noah Gray was celebrated in Mrs. Strano's 2nd grade classroom today. Mr. Gray has spent the past 20 weeks working in my classroom for the Youth Apprenticeship Program offered through the high school. We said goodbye to him today as he will be moving on to kindergarten this week. Throughout this time, Mr. Gray has learned what it’s like to be an elementary teacher.

CLASS OF 27' FUNDRAISER: Skip a night of cooking and support the Class of 2027! The M-E Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony is taking place in between the Boys JV & Varsity Basketball games on Friday, January 26th. The approximate start time of the ceremony is 6:30pm.

ATTENTION: All after school activities, practices, and contests are canceled for Tuesday, January 23rd | For the Middle School and High School, all activity period buses will be canceled | Middle School and High School students need to ride their normal PM bus routes home.

STRESS RELIEF: The Mindful M-E Club brought in the District's Therapy Dogs today to help students, faculty, and staff de-stress before Regents and Midterm Exams!

AFTER PROM: Help support the After-Prom party with donations of bottles and cans!

The cold never bothered us anyway, right? So come on out to the Middle School Spartan Theatre Company's production of Frozen, Jr! Friday, January 26 & Saturday, January 27 at 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.

LEARNING ASL: Students at Homer Brink were treated to an educational experience this morning with special guest Ms. Mary Ann Stefko. Ms. Stefko is a teacher from the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children and occasionally will come and help out in our district as well! Students learned how to introduce themselves, say 'hello', the alphabet, and numbers up to 10! In the spirit of the season, they also sang 'Jingle Bells' in ASL!

Calling all bookworms and music lovers! Come on out to the Barnes & Noble Bookfair this Wednesday (12/20) - Friday (12/22) to hear guest readers and enjoy music from our talented musicians. There will also be free daily raffle baskets and free gift wrapping! We hope to see you there!

MORNING PROGRAM: During today's presentation, Mrs. Rozek emphasized cherishing gifts regardless of their origin. She recounted her childhood experience, learning to value homemade presents, like a plush dog crafted by her mother, and even brought the same dog to share with our students!
