LEARNING ASL: Students at Homer Brink were treated to an educational experience this morning with special guest Ms. Mary Ann Stefko. Ms. Stefko is a teacher from the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children and occasionally will come and help out in our district as well! Students learned how to introduce themselves, say 'hello', the alphabet, and numbers up to 10! In the spirit of the season, they also sang 'Jingle Bells' in ASL!

Calling all bookworms and music lovers! Come on out to the Barnes & Noble Bookfair this Wednesday (12/20) - Friday (12/22) to hear guest readers and enjoy music from our talented musicians. There will also be free daily raffle baskets and free gift wrapping! We hope to see you there!

MORNING PROGRAM: During today's presentation, Mrs. Rozek emphasized cherishing gifts regardless of their origin. She recounted her childhood experience, learning to value homemade presents, like a plush dog crafted by her mother, and even brought the same dog to share with our students!

At tonight’s BOE meeting we recognize Pastor Jim Barnes from First Baptist Church in the Town of Maine. Pastor Barnes not only provides snacks to our teachers regularly but also opens his doors to our students when they practice their evacuation & reunification drills.

FOOD TRUCK SHOWCASE: This morning, students in Mrs. Murat's class presented their Food Trucks to a panel of judges, including two REAL food truck owners from 'The Kitchen Counter'! Categories Included: Best Business Card; Best Trifold; Best Menu; Best Food Truck; Best Community Involvement; Best Overall Presentation!

HOLIDAY SEASON: Thanks to the staff in our district office, and a tree donated by Mike Kodey of Sunny Hill Tree Farm, we are ready for the holiday season!

MEHS has a new club called "Include with M-E" and its purpose is to spread acceptance and promote inclusion of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The club is kicking off with a celebration of Inclusive Schools Week from December 4th-8th. At the HS they will start the week with an informational table for the club and will end the week on Friday by wearing Orange for IDD awareness. All other schools are welcome to join in wearing Orange on Friday, 12/8!

Tonight is Opening Night of "Miracle on 34th Street!" 7pm tonight and tomorrow. 2pm on Sunday. Don't forget to bring your non-perishable food donations for the M-EALS program. LEARNING ABOUT OUR VETS: Earlier today, Army Veterans Matt Barcak and Rhea Shelton, who also have connections to the Homer Brink community, visited our second-grade classes. During their visit, they engaged with the students to explain the significance of Veterans, shed light on the importance of Veterans Day, and shared their personal experiences and roles during their active-duty service in the military.
