AG Commissioner visits district on NYS School Breakfast Day!
Adults with students
The district marked New York State School Breakfast Day on Sept. 25, with a special visit from the New York State Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets Richard A. Ball. The commissioner, who was joined by NYS Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, made a stop at Homer Brink just in time for breakfast in the classroom with students. Ball also made a stop at the Spartan Garden.
For breakfast Homer Brink students enjoyed French toast sticks with NY grape juice, a NY apple, and NY milk. During a stop at the school, the commissioner and assemblywoman visited Briana Burghardt’s third grade class where the students spoke about planting the seeds for the district’s Spartan Garden. In Taylor Norton’s fifth grade classroom, the students talked about the school’s maple project and what they learned about the syrup making process. Ball and Lupardo learned about corn shucking with second graders in Holly Wisniewski’s class. With each class Ball, a farmer himself, shared tips for growing vegetables.

Ball made a stop at the Spartan Garden to see the students’ efforts in growing fresh vegetables for our very own Spartan community.

Thank you to Commissioner Ball and Assemblywoman Lupardo for making Maine-Endwell a part of their celebration of NYS School Breakfast Day!
