A statement from the Superintendent in regard to high risk sports and spectators:
HIGH RISK SPORTS AND SPECTATORS
On Monday, February 22, 2021, Broome County Executive Jason Garner informed school districts that the County would allow spectators at high-risk athletic contests. Mr. Garner clarified that this permission is for high-risk athletic contests only and does not apply to other extracurricular events such as musicals, plays, or concerts.
Our overall goal is to give our student-athletes an opportunity to play. The decision to allow spectators will be an individual school district choice and is contingent on the District’s ability to do so safely. At this time, the Maine-Endwell Central School District has not approved allowing spectators.
Consideration will be given once we have had a chance to review the Broome County Health Department guidance document and determine if we can safely do so.
