Students participate in Engineering Day 2019
Middle School students participated in Broome-Tioga BOCES Engineering Day on Nov. 7. The annual event gives students a hands-on experience in STEM education.
In teams the students were tasked with making a Rube Goldberg simple machine that uses a number of different energy, and material transfers toward the end task of ringing a bell. The students were provided with limited resources materials including a ping pong ball, cardboard, tape, string, a marble, paper plates, a mousetrap and plastic spoons.
The teams, representing school districts from across the Broome Tioga BOCES region, had their projects judged on the number of steps in their machine, reliability, complexity, construction, and oral presentation.
Representing MEMS was Emily Bealla, Liam Blanchard, Lucas Lattner, Jacquelyn Savage, Teague Blanchard, James VanAuken, SarahAnn Savage, Layla Phommachanh, Molly Bunts, James Martin, Despina, Gasparis, William Underwood, Tannor Walker, Kate McCauley, Page Sherman, Ava Lewis-Scoville, Joe Maraski, Brady lindsey, Giovanna Baggaglini, and Eli Weyer.
