Bring a Veteran To School Day 2019
“Thank you!” Homer Brink’s youngest students showed their appreciation for the men and women who have proudly served our country through military service during “Bring a Veteran to School Day” on Nov. 13.
Students in early kindergarten through second grade invited a family member, friend, or neighbor who is serving, or has served in the military, to be their guest at the event. The veterans were honored with patriotic music and other recognitions. Each veteran was introduced by name and military title, and each received a special certificate of appreciation. Maine-Endwell grad Madison TerBoss performed the National Anthem, senior Trenton Scull played taps, and a poem read by Leah Josey.
Veterans who the students wanted to honor, but who cannot attend the event, were recognized on a Veterans’ Wall of Honor and their pictures were shown during the celebration.
Afterward the students gave their guests hugs!
