Many cooks in the kitchen make for a fun learning experience for our Spartans.
Third graders in Mrs. Durkot’s class at Maine Memorial traveled to the Middle School for a collaborative cooking lesson with eighth graders in Ms. Greene’s Family and Consumer Science class. The idea for the joint lesson was born during the Mindfully Digital conference when Mrs. Durkot presented about growing vegetables in the classroom.
For the lesson, the third graders brought the lettuce, basil and spinach grown at their school, and the eighth graders came up with the recipes for pizza, chicken wraps and smoothies.
Working together, the students created the main dishes and two kinds of smoothies. The students enjoyed the food of their labor together!
