Spartan Country celebrates Mrs. Murat!
On Sept. 12, High School students and staff, district administration and invited guests celebrated Mrs. Rachel Murat, the 2020 New York State Teacher of the Year.
At an all school assembly, Mrs. Murat was recognized for not only her distinguished recognition, but also her outstanding dedication to her students and the entire Maine-Endwell community.
In addition to words from Superintendent Jason Van Fossen, HS Principal Tom Burkhardt, Board of Education President Greg Armezzani, and Teachers Association President Patti Sergent, local officials also spoke about Mrs. Murat and their interactions with her and her students.
The HS was honored to welcome NYS Senator Fred Akshar, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, and Town of Union Supervisor Rick Matarese, all of whom have participated in Mrs. Murat’s classroom discussions.
Jason Garnar proclaimed Sept. 12, 2019 “Rachel Murat Day” in Broome County, and Rick Matarese read a proclamation from the Town.
A reception in the school’s Leonidas Lounge followed the celebration.
Congratulations Mrs. Murat!
