MM UPK teacher is the November Liberty Mutual "Teacher of the Month"

Sue Bongiorno

As a Universal Pre-Kindergarten teacher, Susan Bongiorno prepares our youngest Spartans both academically and socially for their big step foward into kindergarten. AND, she gives the best hugs! Congratulations to Mrs. Bongiorno, the November META/Liberty Mutual Insurance Teacher of the Month.

When asked about their favorite memory of Mrs. Bongiorno her former students recall the fun learning activities she planned for them. Parents say they appreciated the open communication and the creative academic experiences available to their children. All agree that Mrs. Bongiorno gives her students a nurturing, warm and safe environment in which to grow.

At Maine Memorial, Mrs. Bongiorno’s fellow teachers recognize the academic readiness in their students because of their time in her UPK classroom.

Students who come from her program are always on task and well behaved which is a testament to her classroom management and organization.

“Students who come from her program are always on task and well behaved, which is a testament to her classroom management and organization,” said fellow teacher Michele Knaul, who nominated Mrs. Bongiorno for the honor. “We are very lucky to have her at Maine Memorial.”

Each month Liberty Mutual honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award, sponsored by the Maine-Endwell Teachers Association, is given to a staff member who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.

Congratulations Mrs. Bongiorno!
