HS special education teacher is META/Liberty Mutual Teacher of the Month

Mary, Kristen and Tom

High School special education teacher Kristen Anastos is a person her students can count on for support and guidance, and that’s because Mrs. Anastos cares about each and every one of her Spartans. Her commitment to her students and her willingness to go above and beyond for them is the reason Mrs. Anastos is the December META/Liberty Mutual Teacher of the Month.

“Kristen is a dependable teacher for her students that does her job very well,” said fellow teacher Mary Castaldo who nominated Mrs. Anastos for recognition. Even though she is busy outside of school, Castaldo said Mrs. Anastos “doesn’t miss a beat” when it comes to her students.

Mrs. Anastos’ support for her students extends beyond the classroom and on to the soccer field and the greater Maine-Endwell community. She serves as a coach for the girls varsity team, and she takes time to give back to her colleges and students in times of need.

Each month Liberty Mutual honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award, sponsored by the Maine-Endwell Teachers Association, is given to a staff member who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.
