Sixth graders create movie biographies

Girls with computers

Learning about influential people throughout history is as easy as taking a stroll through the sixth grade wing at the Middle School and pulling out your phone.

Students in Melissa Spierling’s and Erin Weaver’s ELA classes recently completed a biography project using Adobe Spark to make an informative movie. Working along with Library Media Specialist Erin Hitchcock, the students researched and took notes on important information about their subject including notable accomplishments, family life and interesting facts. They found pictures and added text, their voice and music to their movie.

Famous people represented include Maya Angelou, Derek Jeter, Walt Disney, Bill Gates and Amelia Earhart.

Each project, along with a QR code which is linked to the movie, is displayed in the hallways in the sixth grade wing of the school. Students and staff just need to point their device at the code to view the students’ work.
