Students use adaptive equipment in PE class

High School students experienced what it’s like to be physically active if you are a person with a mobility issue. In January, the students used adaptive sports equipment during their physical education classes.
Representatives from Move Along Adaptive Sports brought wheelchairs, sleds and hand propelled bicycles to the school and the students used the equipment to play basketball, hockey, and to cycle.
Move Along provides adapted recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. The goal is to raise awareness among the students about adaptive sports, and the fact that people should not be defined by their injury or disability, but by how they enjoy life.
This spring the High School will begin a Unified Sports program. Students with disabilities, and without, will form a Spartan basketball team.
