Fifth graders witness government in action
Maine Memorial fifth graders had the opportunity to witness an important lesson on local government when fifth grade teacher, and reelected Town of Maine Supervisor Jim Tokos, was sworn into office at their school.
The students have been learning about government, and the swearing in of an elected official was an authentic lesson for them.
Town of Maine Justice, Howard Dingman, administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Tokos. Following the ceremony, students had a chance to learn about local government, and government in general by asking questions. Topics of interest included length of terms for Tokos and Dingman, term limits, the reasons the men chose to be active in local government, and the duties of each position.
Congratulations Mr. Tokos!
