HB teachers are named META/Liberty Mutual March Teachers of the Month

Norton, students, Mrs. Goosman and Deyo

A pair of Homer Brink teachers are making an impact on their students, one learning opportunity at a time. Fifth grade teacher Taylor Norton and fourth grade teacher Adriane Deyo take on leadership roles to provide students with unique and interesting opportunities within, and outside of the regular school day. For this reason, Mr. Norton and Mrs. Deyo are the META/Liberty Mutual March Teachers of the Month!

The teachers share many of the same attributes and often support the same causes. They are involved in Homer Brink History Club, which takes place after school hours. Both help with building initiatives to support character and leadership, for Mr. Norton through media club, and through mentoring for Mrs. Deyo. Both support the Odyssey of the Mind program as coaches, and they volunteer endless hours to help create STEAM lessons for all students. And above all, they strive for excellence, humor, and academic achievement in the classroom.

Each month Liberty Mutual honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award, sponsored by the Maine-Endwell Teachers Association, is given to a staff member who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.
