Top Spartans! The Class of 2019 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

They are at the top of their class! Congratulations to Class of 2019 Valedictorian Mya Wyatt and Salutatorian Elliot Allen. Both will be honored by giving commencement speeches at the High School’s 57th Commencement ceremony, 7 p.m. June 28 at the Binghamton University Events Center. 

Mya Wyatt, Valedictorian
College or University: Northeastern University
Intended Field of Study/Career Goal: Mathematics and Physics; Mathematician and/or Data Analysis

HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS: Mya is a Academic Gold Award winner (9-12), has been named a NYS Scholar Athlete (9-11), has been recognized locally for her artwork (9-10), and was named a freshman Spartan of the Month (9). 

CLUB/ORGANIZATIONS/EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Mya was a member of the JV and varsity basketball team (8-11) and played CYO basketball as a senior. She has also played soccer and badminton and ping pong for Maine-Endwell. Mya is a member of National Honor Society, has been a member of Key Club, International Club and SADD Club. She attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp. 

IN THE COMMUNITY: Mya has volunteered at Church of the Holy Family events, worked at a local soup kitchen, collected recycling in her school as a member of Action Ecology Club, assisted with the M-E Hoops youth clinic, and has given her time to others through Key Club activities. 

Mya is the daughter of Lynette Wyatt, Endwell.

Elliot Allen, Salutatorian
College or University: New York University Tisch School of the Arts
Intended Field of Study/Career Goal: Directing; Actor/Director

HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS: Elliot is a Gold Academic Award recipient throughout high school (9-12). He is an accomplished musician and has served as president of Mixed Chorus (12), president of M-E Show Choir (12), and as vice president of M-E Drama Club. Elliot was accepted to perform in the NYSSMA Area All State Chorus Festival (11-12).

CLUB/ORGANIZATIONS/EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: In addition to music performance in the HS Mixed Chorus, Show Choir, Drama Club (all 9-12) and Orchestra (9), Elliot has performed in regional theater productions. 

Elliot’s parents are his mother, Sue Connelly, father, Rich Allen, and stepfather, Gerry Grant. He lives in the Town of Maine.
