On June 13, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation removing non-medical exemptions from school vaccination requirements for children. As of that date, there is no longer a religious exemption to the requirement that children be vaccinated against measles and other diseases to attend public school (pre-K to grade 12), or child day care settings.
There are specific dates that families must adhere to in order for their child to be eligible to enter district summer programs, and school in the fall.
We’ve posted a letter from Superintendent Jason Van Fossen explaining the change, on the district website. The letter will be sent to families of children impacted by this change.
