Olivia and BOCES employees

Congratulations to seniors Olivia Hopko and Lauren DeBonis on being recognized by the Broome-Tioga BOCES School-To-Careers Partnership. The group’s annual award ceremony was held on June 5.

Olivia, a student in the BOCES New Visions Health Academy, received an Outstanding Student award. She will attend SUNY Buffalo and study biomedical sciences.

Schoolt-To-Careers Outstanding Students are honored for their college and career readiness endeavors, their good academic standing, their commitment to continuing their education or training, and their demonstration of good citizenship and community service activities.

Lauren is the recipient of a $1000 Youth Apprenticeship Scholarship for pursuing a career directly related to her work-based learning experience. Selection is also based on academic potential, a senior project, and evidence of personal and/or professional growth.  Lauren participates in BOCES’ Youth Apprenticeship Program at Homer Brink and plans to attend SUNY Geneseo and major in childhood education.
