Lynne Musa wears many hats on a daily basis including teacher, leader, advocate and sounding board for her colleagues at the High School where she teaches English. Most importantly, she exemplifies “excellence in teaching” in her classroom, demonstrating the highest standards as a teacher, and expecting the same from her students. Congratulations to Ms. Musa, the 2020 Maine-Endwell Teachers Association (META) Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching award recipient.
The award is given annually to a person who exemplifies excellence in teaching at Maine-Endwell, significantly influences the lives of students, and contributes to the success of his or her school community.
Ms. Musa’s students understand that she is fair and will hold them accountable, all the while remaining flexible and encouraging.
“By breaking the material down, modeling for students what they are expected to do, and approaching the literature in a manner in which the students can identify with the issues and life experiences being discussed, the students grow and thrive...Students who have previously refused to raise their hand in any situation, now experience a desire to share their opinion and interpretation of a reading,” said the colleague who nominated Ms. Musa for the recognition.
In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Musa is an active participant in her school and community. She serves on several committees and has supported her students as a club advisor. She is a valued member of META having held the positions of Building Representative, Secretary, and currently as the Secondary Vice-President. Her colleagues value and seek her guidance and she is an advocate for her peers.
Congratulations Ms. Musa!
