MM kindergarten teacher is the META March Teacher of the Month!

Alissa Vanluvender

An advocate for her students and a support for her colleagues. That is how Maine Memorial kindergarten teacher Alissa Vanluvender is described by her peers. Through the changes in learning this year, Mrs. Vanluvender has supported others every step of the way. Congratulations to Mrs. Vanluvender, the March Maine-Endwell Teachers Association (META) Teacher of the Month.

Whether it is supplies for learning at home, or time to grow as little Spartans, Mrs. Vanluvender is there for her students, said fellow teacher Patti Sergent, who nominated her for the honor. She adds, “She is a true collaborator that supports her colleagues with curriculum development and lesson planning. Alissa is an asset to our Maine Memorial community.”

Each month (META) honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award is given to a staff member who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.

Congratulations Mr. Vanluvender!
