Vanessa DuBrava

Vanessa DuBrava Vanessa DuBrava is the district’s director of special education services. Before coming to Maine-Endwell, Mrs. DuBrava was the director of pupil services in the Union Endicott School District.

Prior to that position, Mrs. DuBrava served as the UE CSE chairperson, and she was a special education coordinator and collaborative teacher at Johnson City High School.

Mrs. DuBrava received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Sociology, from State University of New York at Geneseo. She received a Master of Science degree in Special Education, with a concentration in learning disabilities, from College of St. Rose, Albany, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Administration from State University of New York at Cortland.

The Role of the Director of Special Education Services

The Maine-Endwell director of special education services oversees all special education programs and services, for individuals ages three to 21, within the district. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Development and Evaluation of Special Education Programs
  • Responsible for Federal and State Regulation Compliance
  • Coordinates and Supervises State and Federal Projects, Grants and Data Reporting
  • Chairperson for Various Special Education Committees
  • Supervises Educationally Related Support Services
  • Acts as Liaison for BOCES, Private Placements, and Community Agencies
  • Oversees Medicaid Program and Foster Care Programs
  • Serves as District Homeless Liaison
