Principal's Message:
Upcoming event for Parents--We will be having our annual Art Show as well as our Science Fair on Thursday, May 16th from 5:00-7:00.  This will be a great time to see what great work our students can create. A letter was sent home recently to all families to highlight upcoming field trips, protocols for permission slips, and transportation information.

Recently our students were able to learn about the processes of how to make Maple Syrup.  They worked with our staff to tap the maple trees we have on our property, collect sap, measure quantities, work with some of our community members to actually make syrup, and enjoy a pancake breakfast during lunch.  Thank you to all involved!

Character Education:
Our Morning Program and Think Tank are important parts of Homer Brink's Character Education program.  These are times when we get together as a school community to discuss ways we can be good Homer Brinkers and Maine-Endwell citizens.  Please feel free to stop by anytime to see these programs, it's a fun time for kids and adults. Contact the main office for times/dates.  We also have a recognition wall we call SPARTAN NATION.  If your child comes home with a certificate it means thay are being recognized for being a good leader in the building!

Registering a new student?
Are you registering a new student? We now have a central registration area.  It is located at our District Office at 712 Farm-to -Market Road at our High School campus. If you need to register a new student please stop by the District Office to discuss what information is needed.  You can call 754-1400 to set up an appointment.

Daily Homework-
There have been questions regarding homework........We do not have a NO homework policy.  We do have a particular scope for daily homework which is to work on READING & MATH.........Reading and practicing your math facts daily are very important to the academic development and readiness at school. Please make sure your child reads at least 20-30 minutes each night, and practices their grade level math facts for about 10-15 minutes.  This is an important nightly routine for all of our students. If a teacher feels an area needs to be worked on more they have the ability to send home more to work on those skills.  If a student needs a more individualized approach you may be contacted by your child's classroom teacher to discuss next steps regarding work sent home.

Recess Information:
The weather will be warming up soon: (Please remember to send your children dressed accordingly for the weather as students will go outside most days for recess.  We will usually go outside if the "Feels like" temperature is 20 degress or more.  Please look at the weather report each day and dress accordingly for the varying temperatures in our area.  Call me with any questions.
