Fifth Grade Moving Up 2020

Covid 19 couldn’t  keep these fifth graders from continuing a school tradition!

Maine Memorial fifth graders celebrated their moving up to sixth grade by ringing the large school bell in front of their school.

The bell ringing ceremony is a tradition at Maine Memorial. Students who enter the school in kindergarten (or as a new student to the school) ring the bell on their first day of school. Fifth graders ring the bell on their last day of school before going to the Middle School. Graduating seniors who come back to the school for their senior parade also ring the bell, to symbolize their moving up and out of the district.

The students participated in a safe, social distance event. They arrived by car with their family members, by classroom. In addition to their turn at ringing the bell, the students received a class shirt and a certificate.

Congratulations Spartans!
