For the past several years the M-E Music Boosters has offered a minimum of 5 scholarships to offset the expense of summer music camp.  Last year we received seven applications which were awarded scholarships: Brooke Bart, Jesse Brenon, Kellie Daino, Mackenzie Gannon, Brendan Gardner, Jordan Loretz, and Katherine Zaslavsky.  The amount of the scholarship will be dependent on the number of applications received.

Click here to download the scholarship application.

Receipt of a scholarship is based upon the following criteria:

•   Student is currently enrolled in the MEMS or MEHS music program

•   Student must have a 90% or higher average in current music class

•   Student must have auditioned for, or participated in, at least one extra-curricular musical activity (NYSSMA, All-County, Youth Symphony, Jazz Band, Marching Band, etc.)

•   Student must be continuing in the M-E music program next year

Hello Dear Band parents,

Just a few short things for today: Click Here for Scholarship List

1.  Here are the first of several scholarship notifications you'll get over the coming months.  Attached is a document with (so far) two scholarships.  I copied one portion right into this email (bottom) because it has an important instruction: students interested in the BCMEA Scholarship are asked to contact Mrs. Sue Geer ASAP to help set dates for the audition.

2. Tomorrow's trip to Ithaca College for the Area All-State musicians will leave at 10:30AM (that's at the end of "7th" period, since we're on a shortened schedule).

3.  Congratulations times three:

Brooke Bart auditioned two weeks ago and has been selected (the second-highest score this year!) as the newest member of the Marine Corps Band!  The music placement director was happy to share that the top score so far this year has gone to a college senior Music Performance Major at Crane School of Music.

Josie Trichka (Horn) and Brendan Gardner (Voice) have been accepted to the ALL-EASTERN Music Festival in Hartford CT.

Finally (for now), Brendan Gardner (on Bassoon) will be traveling to perform in the Honor Band at Carnegie Hall later this month.

Wow ~ Congratulations to all!

4.  The next payment installment is due now please toward the Music Department trip to Williamsburg.  This installment is also $100 (unless you fell behind ... please try to be sure you've turned in $300-to-date).  Chaperone calls will be made in about 2 weeks.

5.  Thanks to the Jazz Band members for another terrific performance (along with our HS String Quartet!) on Friday night at this year's Dollars For Scholars Ball.  The HS musicians sounded great, and were terrific representatives of what young people can & should be!

6.  The Fruit is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday, February 5th, and should be ready for pick-up right at the end of the school day (starting at 2:30pm).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr. Linaberry
