Who is the legendary Top Spartan Chef? Cook-off benefits Dollars for Scholars
The Maine-Endwell community gathered for an evening of good food, and friendly competition, at the first Dollars for Scholars Top Spartan Chef fundraiser. The event was held on April 8 at the Riverdale Banquet Hall, formerly Brothers 2, in Endwell. Proceeds from ticket sales, a silent auction and 50-50 raffle will go to support scholarships for M-E graduating seniors.
At the casual, family friendly event, High School student groups were paired with guest chefs from local eateries. The teams were: Broadway Diner/Girl Up, Riverdale Banquet Hall/Art Club, Enfield’s/Girls’ Varsity Club, The Galley, Girls’s Lacrosse team; Moe’s Southwest Grill/International Club, Frank’s/Key Club; Our Country Hearts/National Honor Society; Kelli’s Too/Boys’ and Girls’ Swim and Dive teams, Nirchi’s-Taft Avenue/ Boys’s Tennis team.
Each chef was tasked with creating a one pot meal. The students were in charge of decorating the serving station and serving up the food. Celebrity judges voted for their favorite food, and so did attendees, who also voted for the best student station presentation.
After the votes were counted, Frank’s Penne alla Vodka was chosen as both the judges’ favorite AND the fan favorite. The International Club was recognized as the winner of the best station presentation. The club, along with Key Club, received a monetary award.
Thank you to the guest chefs, our students, and everyone who donated a basket and attended the event. You helped the evening be a success!
