Susan Buckley is the May META Liberty Mutual Teacher of the Month
Kindness and character go hand-in-hand in Susan Buckley’s first grade classroom at Homer Brink. Mrs. Buckley’s students are learning to be caring people thanks to her example and that is just one reason Mrs. Buckley is the Maine-Endwell Teachers Association (META) Liberty Mutual Insurance “Teacher of the Month” for May.

“She goes above and beyond in taking care of her students,” fellow teacher and HB parent, Karin Mann said of Mrs. Buckley. “She shows true care and compassion for the kids, teaching them to have good character and to show kindness to one another, always incorporating the importance of these traits in her classroom environment.”

In addition to helping her students build character, Mrs. Buckley also helps them build academic skills in a fun way, and she provides opportunities for her students to share their knowledge and talents with others.

“She makes learning fun through special projects, music, games, etc., and she continually invites the parents to come into her classroom and see what the students are doing.”

Each month Liberty Mutual honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award, sponsored by the Maine-Endwell Teachers Association, is given to a teacher who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.

Congratulations Mrs. Buckley!
