U.S. history on display! M-E students host history showcase
U.S. history, from colonial times to the present, was on display at the High School on June 6 during the U.S. History Showcase, the culminating activity for juniors in the school’s college-level U.S. History course.

The students brought history to life through videos, websites, displays and TED style talks on a wide-range of topics including the Salem witch trials, US fashion, food of the 1930s, Cold War Olympics, Early American hymnody, Cherokee culture, radio in the 1920s to the 1940s, women spies during the Civil War, LGBT history of the United States, the Shoeless Joe Jackson scandal, the Mexican American war, John Deere and its effect on farming, and nursing - then and now.

In the College U.S. History course students study American history from colonial times to the present. The course is taught through the Fast Forward program in affiliation with SUNY Broome, and students in the class earn six college credits.

Congratulations to the students and their teacher Julie Onnenga for hosting a clever and informative event.
