School-to-Careers Partnership names Vanessa Bongiorno an "Outstanding Student"
Senior Vanessa Bongiorno has set a life goal: to earn a PhD in psychology. As a senior, Vanessa had the opportunity to explore her career options through the Broome-Tioga BOCES Youth Apprenticeship program. On June 7, Vanessa was honored as an outstanding student in the program by the Broome-Tioga BOCES School to Careers Partnership.

The Partnership for Excellence recognition was held on the Broome-Tioga BOCES campus.

The Youth Apprenticeship Program connects high school students with learning and employment opportunities in the student’s career field of interest. Students earn Regents credit for their participation.

Vanessa was an apprentice at Good Shepherd Village. As an apprentice, she rotated through the various departments and services that GSV offers its residents. To conclude her apprenticeship, Vanessa was able to choose her last rotation herself. She chose therapeutic recreation which gave her a chance to interact with residents in a fun, and meaningful way.

Vanessa will attend SUNY Broome in the fall and major in human services.

Congratulations!
