Dear Maine-Endwell Middle School Families and Community,
Welcome back. January is going to be a busy month for students. This month students will be taking their Q2 assessment the weeks of the 7th and 14th. Also, on January 15th and 16th, we will give ELA Practice Assessments to the students. These “practice assessments” are designed to expose the students to the format and content of the test they will take in April.
Weather, Safety and Security:
There are the possibility of delays, cancellations and closings throughout the coming months. We will continue to make use of the Global Connects communications to inform you of any of these, but want to also remind you to check the website (www.me.stier.org) for information too. Our safety procedures will continue to be the following:
1) All doors are locked as soon as students enter the building.
2) Only entrance to the Middle School is through the Security Area located near the Main Office.
3) Visitors must show ID and sign in to be “buzzed” through the locked door.
Our safety procedures have been reviewed by local law enforcement agencies and our School Resource Officer, Deputy Stapleton. We always put the safety of our students and staff as our most important responsibility. We tell students all the time, “Your parents expect you home in the same condition you left in the morning...safe, sound and a little bit smarter.”
Academic Reminders:
The 20 week marking period ends, Friday, January 25th. Report cards will come home early February. As you know, we no longer are sending home paper report cards for students. Parents and students can also track grades through Parent Portal. If you still wish to receive a paper copy of your child’s report card or need Parent Portal information, please contact the MS guidance office at 786-8279.
