Tom Burkhardt, Principal

Tom Burkhardt has been principal at Maine-Endwell High School since 2012. Before becoming principal, Mr. Burkhardt was the school’s assistant principal for two years. Prior to his role as a district administrator, Mr. Burkhardt taught English at the Middle School and was a second grade teacher at Homer Brink Elementary School.
Mr. Burkhardt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and English from New York State University at Oneonta. He received his Master of Science degree in Literacy K-12 from Walden University, and an Advanced Diploma in Building and District Leadership from State University of New York at Cortland.
Mr. Burkhardt is married and has four children.
Greg Asfoury, Assistant Principal
20178161152364_image.jpg image Greg Asfoury comes to the High School after serving as the assistant principal at Homer Brink Elementary, and the director of Universal Pre-K (UPK), since 2012. Prior to his administrative duties, he was a teacher for 16 years at both Homer Brink and Maine Memorial Elementary Schools where he taught third, fourth and fifth grades, and was also a numeracy teacher/math coach. 

Mr. Asfoury earned his Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education Pre K-6 from State University of New York at Oswego, and his Master of Science degree in reading K-12 from State University of New York at Cortland. He earned his Certificate of Advanced Study in building and district administration from State University of New York at Cortland.
The Role of a High School Principal
Maine-Endwell’s High School principals oversee all aspects of secondary education and programs and are liaisons for their building, reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. Principals are involved in all aspects of curriculum, programs, and decisions in their school, grades nine to 12. They oversee, coordinate and administer all state Regents exams, Advanced Placement exams and Student Learning Objective (SLO) exams.

Principals are responsible for setting building goals, and professional staff and non-instructional staff observations and evaluations (APPR). They provide professional development opportunities for staff, and are members of, and oversee, all committees involved in secondary programs.

•    Student Safety and Behavioral Management
•    Emergency Response Team Coordination
•    Personnel and Contractual Matters
•    Building Budget Development and Supervision
•    Construction and Implementation of Master Schedule
•    Coordinate and Assist with Academic Intervention Services and Response to Intervention plans
•    Supervision of Buildings and Grounds
•    Supervise Grade Reporting and Verification
